Wow - what an incredible few weeks it has been for YHC! We are THRILLED to have competed on April 6th, 2019 in the annual Sweet Adelines, Region 16 Competition and to bring home two new medals.
We are now headed to the next International Compeition to compete in the Harmony Classic AA Compeition. We are thrilled and honored to represent Lake Ontario Region 16.
We are thrilled to announce that our Director, Martha DeClerq has officially reached Master Director status after guiding YHC to a victory of over 600 points at our Regional Competition. This is an incredible accomplishment and our whole chorus is honoured to have such an incredible talent -- as well as just an amazing human being -- leading our musical development.
After an incredible 2018 Regional Competition in Syracuse, YHC was honour to have returned home with two medals: First Place in AA Division and Third Overall. And to make our victory even sweeter, we are proud to announce that, with a score of 601, our director Martha DeClerq is now a Master Director. This is truly an incredible accomplishment and is a testament to the love, courage and commitment of our members and management team.
Our Win Makes The News
As if getting a score over 600 and winning two medals weren't amazing enough, we were also excited to discover that our win had made the local news! See the original aritcle on YorkRegion.com here
"We want to sincerely thank the York Harmony Chorus for being part of our Celebrating the Diversity of Women event!! We appreciated your support, time and talent. Everyone I spoke with loved your performances and the flash a capella! Personally, I loved the song about music. It made me misty. Your contribution made celebrating International Women's Day extra special! We haven't completed our final tally but we've no doubt that the event raised a healthy donation to Women's Centre of York Region. Thank you!"

YHC is excited to welcome our newest corporate sponsors! PACE Credit Union can trace its roots back to the Farmunited Credit Union which began in 1940. PACE began as a credit union for employees of the Peel Region and the name PACE is an acronym for Peel Region and Co-op Employees. Over the years, PACE has grown through the amalgamation of a number of smaller credit unions, enabling more to be done for members as one large credit union.

Is there anything more magical than an Elf quest? Hundreds of harmony-lovers learned the answer to this question while helping our YHC elves re-discover the magic of Christmas. The cookies were sugary, the music was festive and everyone left with a song in their heart to last all season long!
What were people saying about our A Capp-ELF-a show?
“I enjoyed every minute. The ‘Dixieland Jazz Quartet’ was excellent as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening. Great job! I will be attending next year’s YHC Christmas Show. ’ Walter
We love singing with our brothers in harmony - The Upper Canada Chordsmen Chorus!
You would think with two a cappella choruses residing is such close proximity to each other that the men and women's choruses would sing together all the time. Sadly this is not the case as coordinating over 100 individuals for rehearsal is trickier than you'd imagine. Which is why we were so excited that the stars lined up and gave us the chance to perform with our brothers in harmony at the Newmarket Music in the Park event. In addition to learning a brand new song arranged in 8 parts (four for us ladies, four for the men), we also had the chance to show off some fun choreo moves as well. How much fun is that?! :)
